Missons

  • Over $12,000.00 given toward missions in 2007 through our S.M.I.L.E. program (Sound Missionary Investments Launch Evangelism) and other missions giving.
  • Our missions program is funded through non-budgeted freewill giving. The amount given in 2008 will be distributed as follows: Foreign Missions - 70% to Chuck Baldwin and family (Evangelism Explosion Coordinator, Central Africa), 20% to Crossroads Pregnancy Center (Auburn Hills), and 10% to our short-term mission fund for future mission trips by those in our congregation.
  • Our Children’s Church currently supports a child in the Philippines through Compassion International.
  • Short-term Mission trips have been made recently by several from our congregation (both adults and youth).

    Music

    • Soloist or ensemble sings, or an instrumental solo is played each Sunday.
    •  Congregational singing blends hymns and choruses. We also utilize video projection for some songs (as well as some PowerPoint presentations, film clips, etc.)

    Community Outreach

    • We lead worship at various times each year for the residents of the Oakland County Medical Care Facility.
    • We take part in “Christmas in Action,” (each April), a project which helps repair and refurbish the homes of seniors or others in need in our community.
    • Volunteers from our congregation take part in training and ministry at Cross-roads Pregnancy Center, Auburn Hills.
    • Volunteers from our congregation also help with community senior’s programs such as transportation services.
    • Some from our congregation have volunteered in various ways at Christian Women’s Club, a friendship based, women’s Gospel outreach, holding luncheons every 2nd Wednesday
    • Our church “adopts” a family in need in our community each Christmas season, providing gifts for children and their parent(s)
    • We have taken part in such outreach programs as Project Angel Tree and Samaritan’s Purse.

These are just some of the activities and opportunities for growth, fellowship, service, and outreach available here at First Church of the Brethren. A statement of faith is also available upon request.
We invite you to join us, and discover what has drawn us to this warm and vital local congregation.
